SPEC-TAC™
An external eye speculum, Spec-Tac by EnVision Eyes was developed by an engineering expert to enhance the field of view during eye exams.
Management of eyelids and eyelashes is crucial to many procedures where unobstructed access to the eye is necessary. Internal eye speculums were developed long ago to aid in the opening of eyelids. Because these metal speculums wrap around the edges of the eyelids, patients find them very uncomfortable. Many different designs of an internal speculum are in use, yet until the revolutionary Spec-Tac, there were no speculums designed to adhere to the outside of the eyelids.
Numerous ophthalmic tests require patients to keep their eyes open during testing. Maintaining an
open eye is difficult for many patients for various reasons, including drooping eyelids and the natural tendency to blink. With the use of 3M adhesives, Spec-Tac can easily keep the eyelids and lashes wide open and out of the imaging pathway.
There are many uses for the Spec-Tac external eye speculum. Some of these procedures include retinal imaging, retinal injectios, corneal topography, wave-front mapping, visual fields, nerve fiber analysis, contact lens fitting, and foreign body removal.
Spec-Tac is now available as a universal, single-use, disposable item. Try the Spec-Tac—it is an eye opening experience.
